Sarajevo Innovation Summit 2018 is the first regional innovation event organized by School of Economics and Business Sarajevo, University of Sarajevo on May 7, 2018. The Summit brought together leading experts from the business and public sectors, as well as the academic community in the field of innovation, and enabled them to present good practices and exchange knowledge and experiences with the aim of stimulating innovation and creating an adequate work environment.
MEASURE-BiH recognized the importance of such event and provided its full support in the event preparation process. MEASURE-BiH representatives, as well as representatives of USAID/BiH, participated at the Summit.
USAID/BiH Mission Director, Mr. Peter Duffy, as one of the opening speakers, emphasized that the Summit is coming at the right time in view of the problem of the supply and demand ratio for certain skills of the labor force in BiH. Emphasizing the speed at which the labor market is changing, Peter Duffy said that, according to the World Economic Forum, as many as 65% of children enrolling in elementary school today will be working a job that does not exist yet.
The Summit contributed to a more open dialogue in the context of reducing the gap between the labor market and higher education institutions in terms of creating new, market-relevant knowledge and skills, as well as defining specific recommendations for improving the environment that would be stimulating for innovation and entrepreneurial activity.
