Impact Evaluations of Social and Economic Programs in BiH

As part of its efforts aimed at developing a common vision of BiH’s need for more rigorous policy analysis, USAID MEASURE-BiH invited research organizations in BiH to submit proposals for rigorous impact evaluations of social and economic programs in BiH in any area of social and economic policy. Our goal in procuring evaluations of this kind was to encourage development of local expertise and organizational capacity for rigorous impact evaluation and build a body of evidence from rigorously evaluated social and economic programs that can inform decision-making and increase effectiveness of development programs in BiH.

Upon finalizing a several stages-long selection process, we decided to provide technical and financial support to the following research organizations in implementing their proposed evaluations:

  1. Center for Development Evaluation and Social Science Research (CDESS): Impact Evaluation of the Life Skills Curriculum Implementation in Primary Schools in BiH,
  2. Evaluation Society in BiH (BHEVAL): Impact Evaluation of Mandatory Protection Measures on Domestic Violence,
  3. Association PREMISA: Performance and Impact Evaluation of the "Job Vouchers 2014” Wage Subsidy Program.
The selected evaluations were initiated in 2017 and finalized in 2019. The final evaluation reports containing a detailed methodology explanation and presentation of evaluation findings are provided below.
